Welcome back to my blog 🙂 Glad to have you here.
Today, I decided to start a new series called “Starling Says.” I will be talking about some “deep” topics, but I won’t go so deep into it so that the information won’t be overload. They are meant to be encouraging and perhaps discussion-y?
The topic I decided to start with is about negativity.
It was inspired by this video I found when I was scrolling through YouTube yesterday:
You should really give it a listen, it’s catchy and a little sad.
But Elise Ecklund (that YouTuber) said that she wanted to turn something negative into something positive and honestly, I think she succeeded. Really, that song is amazing.
You may have heard this many many times or this may be your first time hearing it but, there will always be people in life who’d like to bring you down and see you fail.
Why? I’m not too sure sometimes. They may be hurting inside as well. You never know.
But when they hurl negative comments at you, like in that video above, you should not let it get to you. The expected reaction (throwing hurtful comments back and getting mad) is exactly the response the person wants. It just encourages them to continue.
Don’t retaliate. Don’t react. Just walk away or ignore it. Imagine you have this imaginary shield around you that deflects negativity.
I have heard cases about negative comments leading people into depression which causes suicide and all that, and you definitely do not want to go down that path.
Instead, turn that negativity into positivity and make the best of it.
When someone hurls a terrible comment at you, smile and say something nice about them.
Write a story using those comments.
Do anything to make that negative things useless against you.
Thoughts on this subject? How do you reject negativity?
